Yesterday was a total lack of energy day and I was unable to get my ass to the Kettlebell.

Today I had the energy and pulled my lunch time workout. I was able to complete the 500 swing workout in 32:30. That is an improvement of 7:30 minutes. It could be because I had a workout partner to help push the pace. We did dips on a bike rack in between swings.

I'm doing more of a monkey grip on the Kettlebell and that seems to take some of the strain off my hands.

Good workout.

It's been a long time since my last report and how I have fallen off target. So many life events which I used as excuses. I'm moving forward finally and hopefully for a very long time to come.

I was in the middle of P2P 37 day program when I had a vasectomy on day 21. That threw off my game and I'm unsure if I should try to pick up where I left off to complete it or start over. My sleep schedule is all jacked up due to new baby boy so morning workouts are out right now. I'm barely getting enough sleep to make it through my work day. After work workouts are out because I am watching the kiddo till after 10. This is leaving me to lunch time workouts only. That makes it about impossible to bring everything I need to finish up the program. I think I may do some heavy lifting on weekends and start doing strictly KB work for lunch times.

I was sent a 5 week program of pretty much straight up KB russian swings with a bit of other training in between. So yesterday I did 500 russian KB swings total with 1 arm KB press thrown in.

10 KB swings
1 press each arm
15 KB swings
2 press each arm
25 KB swings
3 press each arm
50 KB swings
rest 30-60 seconds before starting next round (5 rounds total)

Rough WOD for me at this stage of things with 24kg.

I'm supposed to go 2 days on 1 day off for 5 weeks. I finished it in 40 minutes yesterday. I'm sure today will be a much slower story.

Yeah so I started an epic post about 3 weeks ago and then decided it was all bullshit and deleted it.

I'm going to keep it simple. My workouts are going great and have been even better since starting back at Crossfit Central. I knew I would push harder around others working out with me but I'm seeing larger pushes then I thought I had in my gas tank. Good stuff. Working out solo doesn't cut it for me anymore. It will do when I have no choice but I need to find a way to stay in a group.

My eating habits have improved greatly but I still need to work on it. I need to add more sweet tators to get the carbs up.

Back to Training!

I won't lie and say I've been training hard and heavy since my last post. The truth of it is it has been pretty intermittent. Sure I did train but not even close to enough to counter the bad eating habits that slipped in. So right now I'm feeling like I'm in a poor state.

I have a number of excuses but the only one that could even come close to be valid it my book was poor sleep. I was even in bed by 10pm but still not able to get up and get my workouts in. I find with poor sleep comes strong desires for poor food and a tired mind doesn't make the best of decisions.

So going forward I am not counting on 5am workouts as my only time to get it done. If I do decide to get up at 5am I can and will work it (hey I was close to doing that this morning). I will count on my lunch breaks to do my workouts. They will have to be limited to body weight exercises and 2 pood kettlebell and honestly that is more then enough to get it done. I can use my home gym equipment for 1 solid WOD on the weekend and I will.

The latest training goal is to be much better prepared for the Spartan Beast in December. I have some ideas and will be doing more hiking and trail running to be ready.

Today's WOD

Benchmark
5 Rounds for Time:
3 Sidewalk to sidewalk shuttle sprints
10 DB Muscle Snatch (55/35)
10 In and Outs

borrowed from Crossfit Central. My time 10:44 Rx. This should be easy enough to beat in 3 months. I know I could have pushed myself harder.

I also got a new PR for strict press. 180. That is up 10lbs from old PR. I'll take it. I failed at 185.

I really do need to keep better track or actually keep a WOD log. I don't think the blog will work for that but I may post here sometimes.

One other thing I am going to be doing is a strict food log. I will have no more breaks from Paleo. I was tempted last night but I was able to hold strong. I may need to up portions of meals so I'm not snacking. too.

WOD plus random thoughts.
